Clicking on the dashboard icon opens up the dashboard briefly, and then it opens up Scrabble in Chrome. How do I get it to operate properly?

Do you have a third party scrabble widget/ chrome gaming widget enabled? If so....

Open Finder.

From the Menu Bar, click Go > Go to Folder...

Copy the following bolded path and paste it into the finder window:

~/Library/Widgets/

Copy the listed widgets and post in your reply, or identify the widget giving you problems and remove it. See if the problem persists.

Also, upgrade to 10.8.4

This is the System widgets folder, not the user widgets folder.

~/Library/Widgets

Not /Library/Widgets

Back up all data.

In the Finder, hold down the option key and select

Go ▹ Library

from the menu bar. From the Library folder, move the following item to the Trash, if it exists:

and move the following items to the Desktop:

Log out, log back in, and test. If you still have the issue, put the items on the Desktop back where they came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the items.

I do have the same problem but it opens in Safari. I am on Mac OS X 10.11.5. Been doing so since I play Scrabble on Facebook. Can't use my Dashboard because of this. Can't apply the solution above because no elements name com.apple.dashboard... exist.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. You can link to this one. Post in the El Capitan community.

Are you looking in your user Library?

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library and then follow Linc's suggestion.
